Blood Never Dies

On a scorching August day, a good-looking young man is found dead in the bath in a tiny attic sublet. Suicide is not a detective inspector’s business, but the DS takes one look and calls for his boss. Something doesn’t look right.

Detective Inspector Bill Slider has to agree. It’s all too tidy; and the victim’s keys, wallet and personal papers are missing. Either this was suicide with concealment in mind – or it’s murder.

As the investigation leads through tattoo parlours and porn studios to Soho, Tin Pan Alley and Canary Wharf, everything about the man in the bath becomes a mystery, even his name. Who was he, what was he doing in that grotty rental, why did he ask so many questions, and who did he entertain on his last night alive? Slider and his team must work out the right questions to ask, before others die to protect the answers.

Clever, engaging, and well-plotted, this is a fine example of the British police procedural

A sly wit that leavens this richly detailed mystery is a bonus.
